Jamzone displays chords and diagrams in a pitch by default. If you play a transposing instrument like saxophone, clarinet, trumpet or flute, you’ll need to transpose the song’s key to match your instrument’s pitch. This article explains how to adapt a song for your instrument.
Here’s how to adapt a song for your instrument:
- Open the song you want to play
- Tap the “…” button on top right of your screen to open the settings
- Select Change Instrument and chose the one you need (Saxophone, Trumpet, Clarinet, Flute)
- The tuning in the Instrument Settings will automatically match your instrument.
- Play along, Jamzone will handle audio pitch and chord display in sync
Jamzone automatically updates the chord display when you change the key, so you don’t need to calculate transpositions manually.
Tips
- You can combine this with SmartChords to simplify the chords shown (Level 1 or 2)
- For piano or guitar backing, keep one device in concert pitch and another in transposed key if needed
- Want to return to the original key? Set your Instrument as None
